A message from our UNISON General secretary.

Colleagues,

What a day we had yesterday! (18th January)

I want to thank everyone who sent comms, put together pickets, stood on a picket line and supported the strike in every conceivable way in the run up to this day and also on the day itself to make this a success.

UNISON’s round-up of EA strike action is now published on the website:

The #EAFairPay hashtag had around 130 tweets when I looked yesterday afternoon – the support for the strike day was fantastic. The Facebook page also saw some additional posts! We will collate the messages of support and circulate in due course.

Every branch across every region delivered fantastic pickets on what was a very cold day. Our General Secretary visited the Thames Barrier, we had Regional Secretaries on picket lines and above all support from members, activists and the public.

I know that this is not yet the end of the dispute – but you have delivered an incredible first day of action that cannot be ignored.

This is a magnificent start to our action, watch this space for more details!

In solidarity.
